Brief Bio
Francois Denner is the Group CEO at SCS Aerospace Group, an innovative organization of satellite engineering companies with mission to provide space infrastructure for sustainable emerging space programs. Before devoting himself to the group, Denner worked as an independent contractor holding portfolios which included: Chief Technical Advisor to the United Nations, Industrial Development Organization, Space Program Manager at the South African National Space Agency, Director of the Biocomposites Centre of Competence, Director of the National Aerospace Centre of Excellence, Chief Director for Advanced Manufacturing with the Department of Trade and Industry.

Career Highlights
Prior to working as independent contractor, Francois had a 10 year career at the CSIR starting as an Electronic Engineering graduate from the University of Pretoria in photonics systems development, moving on to the specialist area of optical radiometry and later served as Manager of the then National Metrology Laboratory. Mr Denner’s career with CSIR concluded in the Division of Materials Science and Manufacturing where he focussed on strategic initiates in the domain of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Technology Transfer.
Francois contributions in matters related to the medium to long-term competitiveness of the South African economy in general. Francois Denner was a member of the team that formulated the Industrial Policy and Industrial Policy Action Plan of the country, specifically as it relates to advanced manufacturing industries with specific focus on the Aerospace industry. Past Vice-Chairperson of the Space Affairs Council and Chairperson of Policy and Technical Sub-Committee that lead the development of national Space Policy and establishment of office for Space Affairs. Denner is a Past Member of the Advisory Committee of the Provincial Advanced Manufacturing Technology Strategy of the Western Cape Provincial Government. Past Director of the South African Quality Institute.

The SCS Aerospace Group was founded in 2008 and is based not only on the space engineering legacy of South Africa, but also in response to increasing need for space technology for commercial, government and social benefit especially in developing countries.
SCS Aerospace consists of three companies. The Space Advisory Company, which provides innovative small satellite programme and systems products, engineering consultancy and training solutions and New Space Systems which develops and manufactures high-quality space components and sub-systems.
SCS Aerospace Group employs some 90 highly trained satellite specialists including electronic, systems, software and mechanical engineers.
